These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the World Choir website, app, and related services (collectively, the “Service”) operated by World Choir, a company established in Portugal, European Union (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. The Service
World Choir coordinates a global community experience around shared moments of unity, including event countdowns, practice tools, synchronized live experiences, a participation map, Daily Acts of Peace, passport achievements, World Chain connections, optional Photo Book and Memory contributions, and optional charitable giving through Creator Foundations.
The Service is provided for community participation and inspiration. It is not a substitute for professional, medical, legal, or financial advice.
2. Eligibility
You must be old enough to use online services in your country and able to form a binding agreement. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization or Creator Foundation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization.
3. Your account and participation
- Participation is generally linked to a device identifier stored on your browser or device.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, including your display name, participation city and country, and any Voice Number you share with others.
- You agree not to impersonate others, submit false locations to mislead the community, or abuse platform features (including World Chain connection attempts).
- You may update your participation location from your Profile where the feature is available.
4. Community conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, harassing, hateful, or fraudulent purposes.
- Attempt to disrupt events, overload systems, scrape data without permission, or bypass security controls.
- Upload content that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights of others.
- Upload photos or text that are sexually explicit involving minors, violent, hateful, or otherwise unlawful.
- Misrepresent your identity, foundation, or charitable impact.
- Harass other Voices through World Chain, messaging prompts, or repeated misuse of connection features.
We may suspend or remove access, remove user content, or limit features where we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated or where necessary to protect users or the platform.
5. Public visibility
World Choir is designed as a shared public experience. By participating, you understand that certain information — such as your chosen display name, city, country, Voice Number, and participation status — may be visible to other users and shown on maps, counters, chain progress views, or community features.
The Service does not record your singing in the current version. Practice and live event features are for coordination and experience, not for capturing or broadcasting your audio without separate consent. Optional photo uploads (Photo Book, Memory) are separate and only occur when you choose to submit them.
6. World Chain
World Chain lets eligible Voices connect across countries according to each day’s chain rules. By using World Chain you agree that:
- You will only enter Voice Numbers you are authorized to use for a genuine connection.
- Incorrect connection attempts may trigger temporary cooldowns designed to protect privacy and prevent abuse.
- Chain progress may publicly show Voice Numbers, countries, and cities for participants on that chain.
- Completed chains may remain available in Completed Chains history and related archives.
- Following or opening a chain may increment a public follower count for that chain.
7. Photo Book and Memory contributions
After participating in a World Chain, you may be offered an optional chance to add a selfie and/or a short note to that chain’s Photo Book. After the live event, Memory may allow optional community photo and caption submissions when that feature is unlocked.
- Optional. You are not required to submit a photo or note to complete a World Chain connection or to remain a participant on a chain.
- Your content. You must only upload photos and text you have the right to share. Prefer photos of yourself. Do not upload images of other people without permission.
- Public display. Content you submit to Photo Book or Memory may be shown publicly in those features to other users of the Service, together with related place and Voice metadata where the product design shows them.
- License. You retain ownership of your photos and notes. By submitting them, you grant World Choir a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate Photo Book, Memory, and related Service features (including archives and moderation).
- Moderation. We may remove a photo, a note, or both, without removing your chain participation, if content appears to violate these Terms, applicable law, or community standards. Removed photos appear as empty placeholders publicly; removed notes leave blank note areas.
- No fabricated content. We do not invent selfies or personal notes for participants who skip contribution.
8. Events, timing, and availability
- Event dates, songs, countdowns, and live experiences may change for operational, technical, or safety reasons.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, perfect synchronization on every device, or error-free operation.
- Features such as Memory may unlock only after defined event milestones.
- Features may be added, changed, or removed as the platform evolves.
9. Donations and Creator Foundations
The Donate section allows you to support Creator Foundations and their projects. When you make a donation:
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are handled by Stripe, not stored by World Choir.
- A platform fee (currently 6.5%) supports World Choir operational costs. The remainder goes to the selected foundation’s program support as described in the donation flow.
- Donation totals shown in the app are based on verified donation records in our system.
- Unless otherwise stated, donations are voluntary and generally non-refundable once successfully processed, except where required by law or payment provider rules.
- You are responsible for ensuring that your donation choices are correct before confirming payment.
Creator Foundations are responsible for the accuracy of their public profile content. World Choir provides the platform but does not guarantee the outcome of any charitable project.
10. Creator / Members accounts
Approved Creator Foundation operators may receive Members portal access to manage their foundation profile, projects, and related workspace content. You must keep login credentials secure and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.
We may activate, deactivate, or remove Creator Foundation profiles that violate these Terms, remain inactive, or pose a risk to users or the platform.
11. Intellectual property
- World Choir branding, software, design, and original platform content are owned by World Choir or its licensors.
- Event music and lyrics may be subject to separate rights held by artists, publishers, or rights holders. The Service does not grant you ownership of third-party music.
- You retain rights to content you submit (including Photo Book and Memory photos and notes), but grant World Choir the license described in Section 7 and a limited license to host, display, and use that content as needed to operate the Service.
12. Third-party services
The Service may link to or integrate third-party services such as Stripe, map or media infrastructure, calendar tools, or external websites. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our reasonable control.
13. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that participation in World Choir events, World Chain, or community features will achieve any specific social, charitable, or personal outcome.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WORLD CHOIR AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR PARTICIPATION OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will be limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid to World Choir in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) EUR 50.
15. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless World Choir from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service, your submitted content (including photos and notes), your Creator Foundation activities, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
16. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may update the Service or these Terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
17. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if necessary to protect the platform or community. Termination does not automatically delete public community records already created, except as required by law or as handled under our Privacy Policy.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you also benefit from mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence where those protections cannot be waived.
Any disputes shall, where permitted by law, be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in Portugal, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer to bring proceedings in your place of residence.
